  1. Learn how to use power tools

You’ll often need to use an array of power tools during your work. Familiarize yourself with them so that you can demonstrate that knowledge in an interview.

  1. Keep yourself in good health

A healthy construction worker is a happy one. It’s important to have a balanced diet and do regular exercise to keep in shape. Especially if you need to carry around a lot of materials each day!

  1. Get some work experience

You could do some laboring work to learn more about the industry. It also shows on your resume that you’re committed to working in construction.

  1. Know what clothes to wear

Knowledge of PPE (personal protective equipment) – clothing – is a must. Research what clothing you should wear at a construction site.

You will no doubt have a specific field or specialism in mind. Consider getting some qualifications in that field before applying for jobs.
