impress bossFor some time now, you’ve been working for the same company. Or perhaps you just took on a new job. Whatever the case may be, you are looking for some ways to impress your boss. What are some steps you can take that will really leave a lasting mark?

Take Charge

Every time a troublesome situation arises at work, do you find that you run to your boss for the answer? Yes, working through situations with your boss is important. However, after you have been there for awhile, you generally know the protocol. You should document the steps that you take and let your boss know what is going on, but try to determine a solution yourself before you present the problems to your boss. Showing that you know how to problem solve is an incredible leadership skill.

Make Suggestions

At the staff meetings, you tend to be a little bit quiet and reserved. Instead of expressing your opinions, you just let everyone else do the talking. You absolutely do not want to start taking over the meetings, but you should raise your hand and express your opinions a little bit. For example, if morale is down, you could suggest implementing rewards programs if you think your boss will be agreeable to that type of situation. Simply putting yourself out there shows that you care about the company.

Think Before You Speak

You might always tell your boss that you are going to do something, but then you never follow through. Even when you come up with ideas, you need to have the facts and evidence to back them up; you must have a practical plan that you can put into place. Yes, bosses want to see that you are motivated to work, but they also want to see that you are down-to-earth and logical.

Work with Your Team

Sometimes, power struggles do manifest themselves in the work place, but you need to know how to work with a team. You might find that your new positive attitude results in the entire team receiving a reward suggested by O.C. Tanner. When you show that you work well with others, your boss will be happy. Additionally, it shows that you are a mature individual who does not let petty differences get in his or her way.

Impressing your boss is important. Not only does it help you to showcase your talents, but it also lets your boss know you are dedicated to the company.
